The 4 Leading Factors to Top Google’s SERP

Earlier this week I was on the phone speaking with a Google tech who told me the four things google’s algorithm looks at most when determining who gets to the top of Search Engine Results Pages (SERP).

If you are a business owner you obviously know how important it is to show up at the top of google searches. You probably also know it’s not an easy task to achieve. There are so many variables that google uses to give your site authority over the rest of the pack.

On top of that, those variables are constantly changing. So, if you are reading this article 6 months from now it’s likely these factors have changed. With that said here is what I was told would benefit your website the most over the next few months.

1. “and most important” Page speed.

How to make your site load faster:

• Reduce the size of your site:

a. Compress all of your images

b. Minify your Java Scripting

c. Clean out your Database

• Make sure all of your software is up to date: Plugins, Themes, Software, and PHP

• Buy faster hosting: VPN offers much better speeds for more websites and offers the best value for your SEO $$$.

2. Reviews.

Google loves reviews and has for a while. They don’t want to promote bad businesses to the top of the results because if they did you’d stop using google. Whenever you complete a successful project you should always request a testimonial on google and yelp. I recommend developing a nice email with links to your respective profiles where customers can add their reviews.

3. Google My Business.

Make sure you completely fill out your business’s GMB profile. Include all of your services and use keywords in your business description. Also, be sure to post regular updates of company news and images to your GMB page. Google likes frequent posts. It lets them know your business is active.

4. Search Engine Optimization.

SEO is the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine through a number of methodologies including but not limited to: Keywords, meta tags, image tags, linking and much much more.
